The 'Eggciting Eggsperiment'

Following an invite from Mrs Soltau-Heller's class in Canada,
we are taking part in
an 'eggciting eggsperiment'.
Classes anywhere have been invited to take part!
Check out this wiki to find out what to do.

Day 1 (27 March)
We covered our egg with white vinegar.

It wasn't long before we noticed bubbles beginning to form
on the egg.
On Day 2 we will drain the vinegar and make observations about the egg before putting it back into more vinegar.
Then we will leave it alone for a week.
What will happen?
Check out our predictions here!

What do you think will happen?
Leave us a comment with your predictions.
Keep checking back to see what happens over the next week.

'The Cup' Comes to School

Last year we were proud when the New Zealand All Blacks won the Rugby World Cup.
Read our post about the competition here.
Yesterday, the Rugby World Cup Roadshow came to our school.
A few people in the school won the chance to hold the cup by answering questions.
They had to wear gloves because only members of the winning teams can actually touch the cup!
We all got to have a class photo taken with the cup.

We think we are all champions!

What does it mean to be a champion?
Have you ever been a champion?

Elements of Dance

Our theme for Dance this term is 'Adventures'.
Through that theme we are exploring the dance element of 'Relationships'.
We were excited to notice that the performers in
the Duffy Books in Homes performance
used a variety of Relationships, Body Awareness and Space elements in their show.
Try the quiz on our slideshow and see how many
you can identify!

Did you manage to correctly identify some dance elements
in the quiz?
What type of dance do you enjoy?
Does your school have 'Duffy Books in Homes'?

Achieving Goals - Ormie the Pig

We've just had our first round of 3-way conferences,
with students, parents and teachers each having input
into short and long-term goals
for the children.
It seems a good time to post this video of Ormie the Pig, as he works to achieve his goal.
Ormie shows persistence and determination.

How many ways did Ormie try to achieve his goal?
What is a goal that you are working towards?

Thanks to Miss Revell and  Marvins MIndful Monkeys

Adding Details

We are working on making our writing more interesting
by adding details.
Details give the reader more information and help them to make pictures in their mind.

Do you have any feedback for these writers?

Children Teaching Parents

We had a great turn-out of family members for our
We borrowed computers from three other classes so there were plenty to go around.

The children were keen to show their parents
how to make Vokis but by the time
we had those done we didn't leave much time to learn about writing comments!

We had a wonderful afternoon with the children being the leaders and the parents being the learners.
Family members - we hope you will introduce yourselves and say hello!
