Global Maths Twitter Task Challenge

great idea from

Classes from around the world can join in. The project will continue for the rest of 2015, and into 2016.
Questions are tweeted out using the #gmttc hashtag
(with the grade level added to the end)
Some classes have signed up to host the questions for their class level for a week, while other classes are just choosing to join in by answering the questions.

We were one of two classes hosting the questions for the week 21-25 September, using the tag #gmttc1

In B4 we like open-ended questions, where there might be more than one solution,
and we started the week with this tweet:

There was a lot of excitement when some classes answered our first question!

We tried out our question too:

Our second problem:

and an answer from Mrs Pennell's class:

Question 3:

Question 4:

and an answer

Our final question:

and some ideas from B4:

We also answered some questions on the #gmttc2 tag, tweeted out by
@missmacsowls

and problems tweeted out by
@linkedlearners

It has been a lot of fun and we've enjoyed seeing how everyone works out the problems.

Do you have a problem we could solve?

Body Percussion

In Music with Mrs W. the B4 students had to create a
body percussion/movement sequence.
We used this video as inspiration.

Here are some of our ideas:

Teach the Teacher - The Final Week

In our final week of Teach the Teacher
we learn to tie a reef knot, do French knitting, make words using the numbers on a calculator, feed a calf, find out about trains, and fossils, and draw a 3D S, a rabbit, a Landrover and a cow.

What is your skill or hobby?

"Can We Play?' - Repertory for Kids

Last night was our annual 'Repertory for Kids' night at school.
The Year 3s have worked hard over the term to learn their words and decide on their actions.

Our play is called 'Can We Play?'

Did you enjoy our play?
What do you think we did well?

Flower Art

The B4 students worked with Mrs. W to create these flower art works using dye, black vivid and bleach.
This weekend the art works are on display at the Visitors Centre on the main street, as part of the Reefton Garden Club's spring show.

(Click on the art work to enlarge.)

What flowers do you have growing in your garden?

Teach the Teacher - Hand-milking Floss the Cow

In the third week of 'Teach the Teacher' we are shown how to hand-milk Floss the cow.

Have you ever hand-milked an animal?
Do you live on a farm?
How do you milk your cows?
Is your milking shed a herringbone or a rotator shed?

Teach the Teacher -the second week

We are all ako (learners) in B4, and we are all teachers too!

In this second series of our Teach the Teacher clips
we learn about amethyst, and are shown how to make a motorbike plough, make a caterpillar, draw a demolition digger, draw a house without lifting your pen off the paper, and how to draw a person.

Did you learn something new or surprising from us?

Teach the Teacher

Teach the Teacher is an idea that Mrs McK read about in a FB teachers' group.
Everyone in B4 will get a turn to teach us something.
So far, we have learned how to put on a sticker tattoo,

mix a drink sachet

make dip; draw a cat; and draw a 3D house!

What skill would you share?
