Secrets of the Soil (pt 2)

We've been busy with our science investigation into soil.

Using the soil samples we gathered from our back yards, we are finding out what our soil is like.

Doing experiments is messy but fun!
What is the soil like at your place?

Secrets of Soil

Our science inquiry this term is around soil.
We became interested in soil after our visit to the bush
last term.

We had some questions ..
What is soil?
Is all soil the same?

We looked at some soil from the bush and some soil from school.
We mixed each soil with water.

When it settled, we could see layers.
The school sample and the bush samples looked different to each other.

We  observed and drew the samples.

For homework, everyone gathered 3 soil samples from different areas at their home.

We will use these soil samples for some further experiments!

What is the soil like where you live?

Shapes and Symmetry

We are talking about shapes and symmetry in Maths.
Mrs. L. from our neighbouring class found a great video
 from Mathpickle.com
explaining some different kinds of symmetry.

Are you able to find some symmetrical shapes at school, or in the environment?
