Firewise!

We've been talking about being 'Firewise' - knowing what to do in the event of a fire.

Here are the key messages from the Fire Service:

Fire spreads very fast.

The smoke from a fire is poisonous and people must not breathe the smoke. If they do, they will not get out of the room.

You need to get out of the room by staying UNDER the smoke!

Go to the safe meeting place.

Where is your family's safe meeting place outside of your house?

What should you do if you hear the smoke alarm?

How many working smoke alarms do you have in your house?

What happens if there is a fire alarm at school?

Our School Song

Students from B3 and B2 presented our new school song at Repertory for Kids in the last week of term.

The song, called Takatü-Ana Te Ako A-Mate-Noa,
(which is our school motto and means 'engage in life-long learning')
showcases our R.A.S. values;
Respect, Aspire, Self-manage.

We think the song is very catchy and we look forward to learning all of the words!

What is your favourite verse?

'Fire!' - a play presented by Year 3

Repertory for Kids is always a hit at our school.
This year, B4's Year 3s presented a play called 'Fire!'
The animals all have reasons why they should be the first to drink from the waterhole.
By the end of the play they realise that they can work together to solve a problem,
and that they can share the waterhole.

Did you enjoy our play?
Could you hear us clearly?

Blending Our Voices in Song

One of the skills we are learning with Mrs Wistrand in music  is to sing together, blending our voices and singing as one group.
Here is one of our favourite songs (written by Mrs W's friend) that we have practiced especially
to show our parents.

B4 parents (and other visitors) - we hope you leave us a comment and let us know how you like our song!
