Our Fractions Party

Two of our B4 students are shifting away this week, so we had a small farewell for them.
We are also learning about fractions in maths, so we made it a 'fractions' party!
We had to work out how we could cut up or share out the treats so everyone got a fair share.

Is it a fair share?

Half each!

Making sure each person gets a third of the Pebbles.
Each person gets one third of the Pebbles.

One third of 21 is seven.

Goodbye Korbyn and Ethan.
We hope you have a great time at your new schools.

How many sweets were in the packet if my half share is 8?
How many sweets were in the packet if my third share is 6?

  2. Dear B4,

Kia ora Everyone, its Korbyn Kira. Today was my first day at Weston School in Oamaru. My teachers name is Mrs Kitchen and my friends are Isaac, Flynn and Jacob. We went to the airport for a school trip. I got to see a helicopter, two aeroplanes and we were allowed up in the control tower. It was awesome! My Dad helped me write this message.

    1. Kia ora Korbyn,
It's good to hear from you! What a wonderful day you had for your first day at your new school, and I'm glad you already have some new friends.
I'm wondering why there was a school trip to the airport - what are you learning about?

      warm wishes

    2. Hello Korbyn
I hope you find more friends to play with. I like the airport. My 3 trip on a aeroplane was when my family flew to Korea.
      Who is your best friend?
