We love Duffy Books assemblies.
Today Kendra Cocksedge and Olivia Coady of the Black Ferns New Zealand Women's rugby team came to our role-model assembly.
They challenged us to think of any job that wouldn't require reading of some sort, and although we tried hard, we couldn't think of even one.
After we sang the Duffy song the boxes of books were handed out and we went back to class to enjoy our new books.
Olivia and Kendra came around the classes and showed us some rugby jerseys and Kendra's medal from the Women's Rugby World cup that NZ won recently.
Hi B4,
ReplyDeleteI'm Meghana from Room 1 at Tokomaru School.
I really liked the slideshow you put on your blog. The pictures were really great. Could you post more pictures on your slideshow about the rubgy girls? Do you have some pictures of the medal that Kendra earned?
Well, bye b4.
Hello Meghana
ReplyDeleteThank you for your great comment.
All the photos of the rugby girls are on the slideshow already.
Did you see the photos of some of the children wearing Kendra's medal? The children said the medal was big and heavy. I don't imagine Kendra would want to wear it all of the time, do you?
Are you a rugby player? Quite a few of the girls in Reefton play JAB rugby in the winter.
from Mrs McKenzie
Mrs McKenzie and B4 - great post, I wonder if you have any footage of Girls playing Rugby? We filmed so our games and put the highlights up on our blog, and lots of people liked it. To answer your question about School Camp at Melville Intermediate we only have a school camp at Y8 level for four nights, at Y7 level we have a day Camp, although we do have an end of the year trip to Rainbows End to look forward too! I wonder if many of your students have been to Rainbows End (in Auckland).
