Dear Mrs Watson I remember long ago when I was a child my mum used to name every single item that we wore to school. She used to sew in labels to jerseys and tops, and we would have to go back to school that very day if we left something behind. But at least most of our children have their polar fleece tops named, as they are all the same colour! I guess that is the downside of having a uniform. from Mrs McKenzie
Mrs McKenzie We are just heading into Summer, as you are and all students at our school are required to have a Sun Hat, these are very important for the students but making sure that everyone has the correct hat can be a bit tricky sometimes! Also we have always got a huge amount of lost property at school, I liked the fact that most of the socks seemed to have a pair, so I am sure finding a home for them won't be a problem! Dear Miss McGeady We grow kids tough in New Zealand! We enforce shoes on in the two winter terms, but as soon as it is Term 4 they all complain about hot feet and the shoes and socks come off as soon as possible. They do have to watch out for bees in the summer, and a few prickles, and the occasional stubbed toe. Does your school allow shoes off?
This post really made me smile! Our students have to wear their shoes all year long, but even still we end up with stray socks (certainly, not as many as you have though).
It is really interesting that your students can go without shoes. I know there are many in my class that would enjoy that, even though we don't have the weather for it here.
Dear Sahara and Jordan I found all those socks in the box where we keep all our class balls. When the children take their shoes and socks off they put them by our door, beside the ball box, and then at home time they put on their shoes but not their socks.
Most of the socks have been taken home now!
We do remember you Jordan, and we are looking forward to skyping with you next week.

Dear Mrs McKenzie and B4,
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that is a lot of socks!
I'm curious - why have the students been taking their socks off? We always have a lot of jumpers in lost property but not socks :)
Happy sock hunting!
