During the weekend two B4 students travelled to Nelson and took part in the Weetbix Tryathlon.
The Weet-bix tryathlon is an event for children.
It is called a try-athlon because we want kids to 'have a go.'

A triathlon is a contest that has 3 events.
The events were swimming, running and cycling.
Both boys got a medal each and had a great time.
Mrs. McKenzie and class B4,
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! What an incredible accomplishment! I certainly enjoy swimming, running and cycling, but I’m not sure that I would be able to participate in a triathlon anytime soon. :) Have either of you participated in this event before? I was also wondering if you know how much distance you covered during the race…
I enjoy playing a sport called softball. It is very similar to baseball, if you are more familiar with that term. I have played on my church team since I was 12 years old. I can’t wait to start up the season again!
Your teacher visited our blog, so I thought it would be fun to visit yours! I hear that we have been blogging about the same amount of time. Your blog looks fantastic! You have such quality posts and comments here. We have added your blog to our links and the Techie Kids will be visiting you soon.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Mrs Moore
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. I have changed the wording in the post to make it clear that the triathlon was a kids' event, with shortened distances!
The tryathlon series has been held throughout New Zealand over a number of years, and has quite a following of children around the country who participate every year. It is held in several locations over a couple of months. If they are not near the ocean the swim is held in a pool.
We say softball here, not baseball. It sometimes gets played by classes at our school. What is the team called that you play for?
from Mrs McKenzie and B4
Dear Mrs. McKenzie and B4,
ReplyDeleteYour wording was just fine. :) Even with shortened distances, I am still very impressed! It is interesting to me that the event is so widespread. That is a terrific way to encourage children to be active and stay in good physical health.
The name of my church team is the Knox Knockout’s, although we don’t hit the ball out of the park as often as the name suggests! Do you have a local softball team that you cheer for?
Your friend,
Mrs. Moore
Good work Adam and Paddy for getting your medals. Do youfeel proud of yourself.
