The postman brought lots of exciting mail to us today.
Earlier in the year we sent a parcel
Mrs Watson and the 2/3s in Canada.
Today we received a parcel back from them, with this cool counting book called 'Loonies and Toonies'.
Loonies and Toonies are nicknames for the Canadian $1 and $2 coins!
Thanks Mrs Watson and class, we love the book, and it will be fun to learn more about Canada.
We also got two new postcards.
This one is from Grace in 2TM, Rosana, Melbourne.
The second one came from Patricia and her class in
Toronto, Canada.
They have a clean desk fairy in their class.
Wouldn't that be handy!
A nickname can be an abbreviation (short version) of your name, or a nickname can be a fun name given to you by family or friends.
Do you have a nickname? What is it?
Do you remember who gave you the nickname?

Dear B4,
ReplyDeleteThe 2/3's will be so glad that the book arrived. The book you sent us continues to be a class favourite!
When I was a little girl my younger brother could not say Melody and so he called me Wawdy.
For a few years playing soccer my nickname was Toy Tiger. I'm not really sure how that came about. :)
Now my friends just shorten my name to Mel.
I'll be interested to see what sort of nicknames others have. What a great question!
Your friend,
Mrs. W
My nickname growing up was "Bebo". The story is my dad would call me "Billy Boy" but my older brother couldn't say it so it sounded like Bebo. To this day my friends I grew up with call me Bebo and my wife now calls me "Bo".
ReplyDeleteI hate to think what nicknames my students have given me ;)
My nickname at school was Seeds. This was because of the famous company called Sutton's Seeds. I didn't mind it all, even some of the teachers called me that!
ReplyDeleteMy husband calls me "the Dove." It started because I was a peace marcher in the 1970s, but now it's an affectionate, sometimes ironic (if we have a disagreement!), nickname.
