Our first postcards arrive

Our first postcards have arrived and they are up on our wall!

At the start of this year we joined the postcard project that
Ms Leakey, from the Pirates of Rm 4 in Invercargill, thought up.
Classes from around the world joined up, and send each other postcards by 'snail mail'.

At the start of term we brainstormed and prepared some sentences about our school and town. We chose the best sentences and used them on our postcards.
We posted our cards on February 10.

Now we have received our first cards back, from Rm 2, Kaipara Flats, in the North Island of NZ.
Our cards were written by Nic and Dan, and they told us about their playground and their class goldfish.

Have you ever sent a postcard to someone?
Have you ever received a postcard?

  1. Isn't getting the postcards exciting! We have a world map on our wall too with all the schools we have sent cards to marked on. We have tried to find everyone's school logo to put up as well as logos seem to tell us a lot about a school. We have been learning new atlas skills to find places but sometimes we need to use the internet to find the smaller places! We found Reefton in our atlas. We hope our postcard to you arrives soon but it has a long way to travel! Kay blogged about your card arriving in Burravoe.

  2. Dear B4,

How exciting to get your first postcard! We got our first one last week - from you! We were very interested to find out that only about 900 people live in Reefton. We are going to send our cards next week when we get back from vacation. We will be sure to tell you how many people live in our town.

I used to make my own postcards out of cardboard and I would paint pictures on the front. I also liked to look for cool stamps to go with the painting. I think postcards are a lot of fun.

  3. Dear B4,

Hi. My name is Madison. I am in Mr. Salsich's 3rd grade class. We are posting a comment on your blog page. Your blog page is awesome. In Social Studies we were studying about Native Americans of Connecticut. What are you studying about?
