Celebrating Smoothies

Our recent science unit on milk led on to a technology unit
where the children planned and made yummy smoothies for some adults in the school.

They had to decide on ingredients and test for flavour and suitability, as some people have allergies.
After a test run where each group got to make, taste and adjust their recipes, the children made and delivered the smoothies.
Everyone thought they were delicious!

What is your favourite smoothie recipe?

Questioning Poems

Here we have the last in our series of poems for this term -  our questioning poems.

Maybe you could write a poem for us about your pet, or your brother or sister!

Playing with Poetry

We've had a lot of fun this term,
finding out about some of the tools poets use, and writing our own poems.
We learned about similes, and used some to add effect in
our Mothers' Day poems and our autumn poems.

We also had some fun with alliteration.

Now we are trying out some different poetry formats.
Here are our cinquain poems.
(We just followed word rules, not the syllable rules in these first attempts!)

Have you ever written a cinquain poem?
Leave us a poem as a comment, telling us about yourself!

Enjoying Kahurangi Theatre

We've enjoyed another quality show from Kahurangi Theatre .
This show told the story of Matariki, a star cluster who's appearance marks the beginning of the Maori New Year. Harvesting is done, food is collected and stored, and it is a time for stories, singing and dancing.

When do you celebrate New Year?
