Five Connections at Once

There was great excitement at Reading time when our blog globe showed that 2 visitors from America, one from New Zealand and one from Australia, plus us, were looking at our blog page at the same time!

Were you one of those visitors?

  1. Dear Mrs. McKenzie and class,

It is exciting to see visitors, that's for sure. I would guess it was someone from our class that was the American one...or maybe both!

Your post about Ryan's quality comment has brought some visitors from our class to your blog!

We'll be back! Your blog is terrific!

    Hi Mrs McKenzie and B4,
We are glad that you liked our Gerald mask - he did take awhile to make.
Each dance had a mixture of us from our 3 classes, and the whole school went on stage for the final dance which is the last photo you mentioned.
The performance was filmed, we are just waiting on a copy of it. We could send it to you when we get it if you would like to watch it.
Have you got anything coming up? Do you do an end of year production or play? Do you do a Christmas concert?

  3. Dear Mrs. McKenzie and class,

It wasn't us the other day because we just started our blogging for the new school year today, but I'm sure you had quite a few of us visiting this morning.

The class was very surprised that you are just starting spring as we are just starting autumn! We were also surprised that when we were visiting your blog, it was only 3:30 in the morning where you are. Your voicethreads about your location and your school were very helpful in understanding this.

We do have one question: what ages are your students? We are 8 and 9 years old.

    From,
    Mr. Salsich and students
    (Connecticut, USA)

    Dear Mr Salsich and students
As I write this it is 4pm Thursday here, and I see on our time zone page it is just on midnight Wednesday where you are!
I hope you will be able to add some voice comments to our voicethread soon.
We have 20 students in our class, 12 boys, 8 girls. Some are 6 years old, some are 7 and some are just starting to turn 8.

Our question is: how many boys and how many girls do you have in your class?

  5. Dear Mrs. McKenzie and B4,

We would be happy to add some comments to your voicethread! We are going to try to make our first one next week, so once we have gotten a little practice, we'll tell you a little about our community on your voicethread.

In our class we have 12 boys and 10 girls.

    From,
    Mr. Salsich

  6. Hi Mrs McKenzie and B4,

We will have to post you a copy when we get it, as we can't post our performance on the blog for privacy reasons.

We have a Christmas concert every year. Santa comes to visit us and he gives us lollies! Each class does a performance that is related to something we have learnt about. Last year Room 2 did a Poi dance, Room 1 (us) did a dance to the song 'Surfin' Safari', and Room 6 made up their own play called 'Santa's Next Top Elf'. We don't know what we will be doing this year, but it will be fun!

We are doing some activities around Conservation Week. Are you doing anything for it?

  7. Hi there Mrs McKenzie and B4. We also love our globe. Jaxson's dad went to Malta for a holiday 2 months ago. We were on the blog when a hit from Malta came up. It just had to be Jaxson's dad!We were so excited for Jaxson because Malta is so far away and he had to stay there for 2 months. Maybe we were looking at your blog last week because it would be about 11:00AM for us. It's so interesting to feel connected in real time.
This is our last week for Term 3. We start HOLIDAYS on Friday. We hope all the after shocks have stopped. Four teachers from Geelong were visiting one of your Christchurch schools when they were caught up in the earthquake. They will never forget it. Anyway- keep blogging. It's so interesting to see what other classes are doing. Mrs Lynch and the MLY gang.

  8. We weren't one of those visitors...but we now are!
I think our time zone differences may not allow us to be seeing your blog at the same time you are, but that's ok! We really like your blog and hope you visit ours, too!
Where exactly are you on the West Coast? I visited New Zealand last Christmas for 3 weeks and visited both the North and South islands, drove across Arthur's Pass and went up the West coast from there. Punakaiki (do I have the spelling right?) was interesting!
    Take care,

Miss B. and her Gr.5s from Bangkok, Thailand

    Dear Miss B
How exciting to hear that you were in New Zealand last Christmas!
Reefton is inland, over the mountain range from Punakaiki. For those who don't know, Punakaiki is also called 'The Pancake Rocks' because of the rock formations.
Last week I visited your blog and also looked at some of the student blogs. I left a comment on Catherine's about her reading goals.
It's great to have new blogging buddies.
