Putting the Effort In - 100 Medals 1908-2012!

An exciting aspect of these Olympic games for New Zealand is that our 100th Olympic medal has been earned in the Olympics games.

We are a small country and our Olympic athletes become household names and role-models to many. 

Here is a video showing the New Zealand Olympians from 1908-2012 who have earned the 100 medals.

Flying High

We've been playing around with kites as part of our 

Social Studies topic 'Flying High in Asia'.

This week we brought our own kites from home and worked together to put them together and to fly them.

As part of our topic we're going to be exploring 

kite festivals in Asia.

Changes, Changes

Some changes have happened in B4 this term.

All of the Year 3 students have moved into B3 and some more Year 2 students have moved into B4.

At the start of the year we made a post showing how we sorted and classified ourselves into a variety of groupings.


Let's see how our groupings look now:

12 kids from last term and 5 new kids

8 in Kawatiri and 9 in Mawhera

 

Four 7 year-olds and thirteen 6 year-olds

7 boys and 10 girls

0 Year 3s and 17 Year 2s

How many students are in B4?

What are the all number pairs (number bonds) that equal that number?

Are there other ways we could group ourselves?

Textured Landscapes: Waterfalls

During Term 2 the children worked on textured landscapes 

in Art with Mrs Wistrand.

The textures were made with twisted paper, wood shavings, egg cartons, hose pipe and shredded plastic bags.
