Making Sushi

Last week we made pasta as part of our
Science and Technology unit.
Today we made sushi.
Quite a few of us had tried sushi before, and some even buy sushi for lunch sometimes.
For others, it was a new experience.
It was so yummy we wished we had made more!

Do you like sushi?
What are your favourite fillings?
Have you ever made sushi?
What other rice dishes do you like?

  1. Dear B4,

WOW! You made sushi?! That can be quite difficult to do, but from the photos, it looks like you are masters!

I am becoming a sushi lover. However, Mr. Yollis really loves it. His favorite is spicy tuna roll. He loves anything with ahi in it!

There is a sushi here that is called a California Roll. Do you have that there or is that a regional one?

    Well done, B4!

  2. I see some master chefs in the making! Nice job rolling it up. I prefer the sushi without fish or meat. We got some at a restaurant one time that had cream cheese and jalapeno peppers! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Dear B4,

You are lucky to do so many great things this year!

While I'm a big pasta lover, I have never enjoyed sushi! Maybe you could convert me with your cooking.

Cooking is fantastic skill. Recently, the students in 4KM and 4KJ wrote a persuasive text called "Everyone Should Learn to Cook". The students came up with so many different reasons why everyone would benefit from cooking.

Will anyone in B4 make sushi or pasta at home now?

    Best wishes,
    Mrs M☀rris

PS - Mrs Yollis, California rolls are popular here too!

Thanks for your great reply. Your mum is lucky to have visited Japan. I hope you get to go there one day too.

I agree that sushi would be a good party food.

My favourite fillings are: cucumber, carrot, avocado, and tuna.
My Mom used to make sushi for my Dad’s lunch, and some times for us!

  5. Dear B4,
I think that making sushi is a VERY adventurous project - and it looked like everyone was keen to taste it, too! I love sushi, but there are no sushi restaurants close to us (they are mainly in the big cities) and I have never had a go at making it myself. The ingredients are not so easy to get hold of, but you made it look easy! Maybe I will have to give it a go!
