One of our maths groups is learning how to
add tens to a 2-digit number.
Another group of children already have this skill so their task this week has been to make videos explaining the process:
Adding tens (no-3) from Judy McKenzie on Vimeo.
Adding tens to 2-digit numbers (no4) from Judy McKenzie on Vimeo.
Adding tens to 2-digit numbers (no4) from Judy McKenzie on Vimeo.
Do you have another method for solving problems like these?
Can you solve 35 + 20 and explain your thinking?

Hi, I loved your videos, you did a great job explaining your thinking. Thank you, I'm going to do the same with my students. Ms Camden @qldteacher
ReplyDeleteDear B4,
ReplyDeleteWell done on creating such fabulous videos! I'm sure your explanations will help your friends in your class ... and in other classes around the world!
You are very clever to be able to add tens to two digit numbers. This strategy is much easier than counting on by ones.
Here is a question for you, when you're adding two numbers, which number do you start with?
Best wishes,
Mrs M☀rris
Dear Mrs Morris
DeleteWhen you are adding numbers you start at the bigest number. Then you cont in the small number
